I bought some girl scout cookies at the grocery store the other day from the cute kids shilling at the doors. I walked up and asked for one box of thin mints, one of tagalongs, 2 of samoas, and one of the trefoils.
I was greeted by blank stares and one box of thin mints.
Because the new names for all of those other cookies are peanut butter patties, caramel delights and classic Girl Scout cookie (that's only the approximation of the trefoil. The are no longer the same shape or really the same taste). I had to order the cookies I wanted with the color of the boxes, which did not work for the Trefoil, because the new box is Sky Blue.
I understand why they would change the names (considering I didn't find out a Samoan was not a cookie until I was about 15). But I like the old names. They were cute. The outer boxes had little animated cookies saying things like, "I'm the trefoil. I'm the original Girl Scout Cookie."
I think I just resent another piece of my childhood lost to the PC powers that be.
That and the awful stomachache I got eating the last of my Samoas last night.
